South Africa, Sunset Ripples

we headed west
for nearly 2 hours
into a continually setting sun

and no, there is no photoshop in there..

South Africa,Sunset Storm

some people saw a sunset
some people saw a storm

both were right..

Zimbabwe, Recession is over-rated!

so you think you have it bad?

this is apparently
the price of a loaf of bread
in Zimbabwe

[not my picture]

South Africa, Limpopo Province (almost)

koos se klim

awseome view

so what did you do on Sunday?

South Africa, Kalahari, avian condo

community living at it's best

South Africa, Northern Cape, big skies, big sunsets

what more can be said

both taken with a Fuji Finepix S3800

Malawi, Blantyre, eager to sell their wares

a strange phenomenon
all tomato sellers sit together
not understanding the rules of competition
or the statistics of chance that their produce
might never be selected in a sea of tomato..

as do the curio sellers

Malawi, Blantyre, down came the rain

when it rains, it rains
colourful umbrellas abound

Transkei, Wild Coast, urban bliss

aprilia doing what it certainly
was NOT designed to do...

in transkei, wild coast, south africa
had been canoeing on the lagoon behind

just imagine a country's worth of green lawns

South Africa, Northern Cape, Bartlett's Church

built in 1827
led by one Rev John Bartlett
site of old tree that has a plaque on it
that says David Livingstone preached beneath it

South Africa,Northern Cape, Glacier Feet

Malawi, Blantyre, Fresh Chicken

Fresh chicken!
It doesn't get fresher than this

Malawi, Blantyre, Hyena Caves

Hyena Caves they call it

(all we saw were dassies.. (rock hyrax))

Apparently the hyena come out from under the rocks at around 6PM, and if you want to see them it helps
if you bring some bones...

the rifle is for poachers (in case you were wondering!)

meet Nathan the guide.

Nathan says the poachers bring packs of dogs to hunt for them, and they're armed.. so it helps to be prepared.

Malawi, Blantyre, Peekaboo

Encountered on our walk,
he seemed intrigued, but not in
the least bit frightened.. which is more
than can be said about the other five...
Seen yesterday at Michiru Forest Reserve, Blantyre, Malawi

Malawi, Incy Wincy Spider

Star Wars ain't got nothing on these!

Michiru Forest Reserve

They hang between the trees,
with a web big enough
to envelop
a person

South Africa, Aliwal North

the bridge over the Orange River

Apparently
his brakes failed
at the top of the hill

Imagine calling your employer
and beginning to explain
just what happened
